Amazon or Ebay are places where you can get lots of products including Best & Cheap Laptops, Mobile Phones, Household Gadgets, Books, DVDs, Jewelries and many other products you can name. Amazon has a large team of sellers that offers large varieties of customers’ products and goods that are mostly American made. American made goods are known by all to be goods that stand for quality.

Shopping online is the growing trend in Nigeria but they do expect to get more from the internet. Many people in Nigeria would want to shop unrestricted on any website of their choice and receive a home delivery all at a reasonable rate too. However when it comes to shopping online across the shores of Nigeria, US websites are not as welcoming as there are a lot of restrictions places on people who may want to buy from Nigeria even with their cash backed cards, no thanks to the activities of Yahoo Yahoo boys. Well, the truth is that you can still shop on a lot of US websites from Nigeria and have it shipped to your doorstep and that's why I'm writing this article on how you can shop on Amazon and ship your items to Nigeria.

Getting a USD Visa/Mastercard

In Nigeria nowadays, many banks now offer Visa and Mastercard issued in both Naira and USD. You can use anyone as they both work on Amazon when making payments online. As long as you card has been activated for online use and has funds in them, you can easily use it to make payments at Amazon by adding your card details to your account. Getting such a card is easy as all it requires are your details, identification, funds and filling an application form. The card comes with a card number, expiry date, billing address, CVV code and can be personalized or non personalized. Personally I go for the non personalized one since it is always ready for pickup. Amazon accepst Visa and Mastercard and you can use them directly. You may also purchase a gift card with it for settling your bills when shopping.

Opening an Amazon buyer's account

Amazon accepts residents from Nigeria who may want to open a buyer's account. You just have to have an email addres and use it to open a free account with Amazon. Once your account is opened, you can then easily shop at Amazon with it. You will be able to access your account and add your payment and shipping address to it or you could always do so later on when checking out.

Opening an Ebay Account or Other Online retailer Accounts and A Paypal Account for Ebay.

To buy from Ebay or many other online retailers, you need a paypal account. Fortunately, Nigerians can now own a paypal account. But you will need a valid Master card or Visa Card to verify this Paypal acount. your purchases will be charged to this card linked to your paypal account.

Getting a US shiping address

Unless you are buying books and dvds or otehr small items for which Amazon offers direct international shipping to Nigeria then you may not need this else you do. Having a US shipping address is essential as it allows you to get a lot of benefits such as freE Super saving discounts which Amazon offers and the ability to warehouse and ship your goods in bulk when you want to. Getting a US shipping address requires signing up for a mail forwarding service that will ship your items to Nigeria when they receive it from Amazon. You can make payment for this by also using your Visa or Mastercard. It costs about $!0 to $70 depending on the type of account you want and this excludes final shipping costs to Nigeria which are based on internationship courier shipping costs per weight and size. www.zaposta.com and www.shoptomydoor.com are what i currently use to ship my products down to Nigeria within two weeks.

Buying the item

Once you log into your Amazon or Ebay account and browse through their many products, you'll be able to see a lot of products you want to buy and then click add to cart to buy them. After making your choices, you would just proceed to checkout to make payment and indicate your shipping destination. You should then make payment by making use of your card which will then be charged almost immediately and you'll get an invoice emailed to you.
What does Shopping on Amazon require?:

This is the next logical step after buyng your item. After you've made the payment, Amazon or the seller would also send you a tracking number in an email. You can alos log into your account and see your recent orders. You'll be abel to know when the item has shipped or not. You may also cancel your orders if it has not already shipped. After it has shipped, it completes your order and you'll be able to track it till it gets to your USA address.

all you need to do is enter this shipping address given to you by shoptomydoor.com on your Ebay or Amazon shipping address. your item will be shipped to shoptomydoor warehouse and you will be notified that your item is received. will then have to pay them to get it shipped to you in Nigeria.
i payed 3,000 naira to ship my last item. its not entirely expensive to ship. it depends on the weight of the package.

Shipping to Nigeria from Amazon

After the item has been recieved at your US address and if you are using a premium US shipping account, you can then initiate a final shipping to Nigeria. You can estimate the costs using a shipping calculator based on the weight and size of your package. You will then initiate a shipping to Nigeria and you will be given an invoice after a while. Your card will be charged and your item would be shipped within 24 to 48hrs to Nigeria. It normally takes about 5 days to get to Nigeria from the USA using DHL and you can track it all the way by going to the dhl-usa.com website using their online tracking tools. Once the tool says it's out for delivery and you are in Lagos, expect to receive it that same day.
