Latest Leak Shows HTC One M9+ With Duo Camera and Fingerprint Scanner

New devices are always exciting, and this time of year, there are many to look forward to comparing.  The new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be hitting the stores in a couple of weeks and the new LG G4 will also be making its entrance soon.  We also expecting the new HTC One M9 that HTC introduced earlier this month making its way to our shores.  Many were disappointed that the new One M9 did not come far enough to compete with the other NKOB (new kids on the block) – still using a FHD display rather than moving up to the QHD technology, still no fingerprint scanner and still no OIS in the main camera module.

Rumors persisted about HTC coming out with an HTC One M9+ device that had better specs, and now, thanks to HTC itself, we know this is true – with their “More than One” event scheduled for April 8 in Beijing…photo and all. There were even some QHD wallpapers leaked the other day.  The latest leak from a fairly reliable source, @upleaks, on Twitter seems to verify those rumors.  It looks like the One M9+ is exactly what the One M9 should have been all along – a 5.2-inch Quad HD (QHD) display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and about 534 pixels-per-inch (PPI).  Some say it will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, but even money is on the 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 octa-core CPU with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

In keeping with ‘tradition,’ HTC looks like they had added back the Duo Camera on the One M9+…rumors put it at 2.1MP, not the 4MP one found on the HTC One M8, but still no OIS in the main 20.7MP camera.  It also looks like the ‘dreaded’ home button – like on the Samsung Galaxy series – is on the front, most likely HTC is using it for their fingerprint scanner.  From the leaked pictures, it appears that HTC may be giving the One M9+ a unique color combination – gunmetal grey on the front and back, with gold accents on the side.  Some are saying that the One M9+ may be like last year’s E8 and will remain mostly in Asia or EMEA (Europe, Middle-East and Africa), which would be a real shame for the rest of the world.  HTC may not want the One M9+ to cannibalize sales of the One M9, however, it looks like the One M9+ is what HTC needs to compete with the ‘big boys.’
